ViziLite Early Oral Cancer Screening

Gain peace of mind with a ViziLite early oral cancer screening by Dr. Kobak. Like all cancers, oral cancer is much more lethal when it is not detected and addressed in the early stages. A visual oral cancer test is performed by a dentist with every checkup, but Dr. Kobak offers the contemporary technology of ViziLite, which can detect oral cancer before it's visible to the naked eye.

Patients screened for oral cancer with ViziLite will be instructed to rinse their mouths with a 1% acetic acid (the same acid that's in vinegar) to remove a barrier of mucosal glycoprotein so that a low intensity, short wavelength light can identify suspicious cells before they emerge on the surface of the mouth. If a lesion appears to be oral cancer, Dr. Kobak will ask a patient to return for a follow-up visit to make sure the abnormal marks are not just burns from eating something too hot or a chemical burn. If these possibilities are ruled out on the follow-up visit, Dr. Kobak may schedule a biopsy to definitively check for cancerous cells.
