A New Age in Dental Care

We are excited and pleased to bring our patients dental innovations that have revolutionized oral healthcare. Our advanced technology is safer, provides more precise information, and keeps patients more comfortable than any of its predecessors.

Digital Radiography (X-rays)

Any time you have to get an x-ray, you probably think about radiation poisoning as you don the lead vest. Many people have questions about exposure to radiation from dental x-rays. Dr. Kobak is concerned about your safety, so in 2006, he invested in completely digital radiography. Our x-ray system will expose you to 80% less radiation than a traditional system. Furthermore, the vivid images produced are immediately viewable on larger screen computer monitors, chairside, in the treatment room, so you and the doctor can review them together.

Intraoral Cameras

In addition to reviewing your x-rays, Dr. Kobak will share the photographs we capture of the inside of your mouth. With these visual aids, he'll explain his findings and show you exactly why he makes certain recommendations. The more you know about your dental health, the better prepared you'll be to make informed decisions.

Digital Photography

While intraoral images are important, we will also take before-and-after photos of your teeth so that you can see the transformation after your case is complete. Digital photographs are routinely shared with our dental laboratories and specialist offices to help communicate and enable us to provide optimal treatment. DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Detection

With DIAGNOdent, we can find tooth decay in the earliest stage, called demineralization. In some cases, re-mineralizing teeth can ward off a cavity. Certain situations are better suited for a tiny filling – which, in most cases, does not require a dental anesthesia injection. Dental cavities won't heal like a flesh wound. Once decay occurs, only professional treatment by a dentist can remedy the situation. Without treatment, tooth decay will spread, worsen, and create the need for more invasive procedures, like a crown, root canal, or extraction. Finding and treating dental cavities in the early stage allows Dr. Kobak to offer the most conservative or minimally invasive treatment options.

ViziLite Early Oral Cancer Detection

Oral cancer is more prevalent than you may think. Each year, oral and throat cancer claim one American life per hour, all year long. That's 8000 deaths, and 37000 are diagnosed with the condition. While tobacco and alcohol are significant risk factors, anyone can develop oral cancer. Often, the first healthcare professional to detect oral cancer is a dentist or hygienist. Dr. Kobak has always screened patients for oral cancer during checkups, but because finding and treating the disease early could save his patients' lives, Dr. Kobak now offers ViziLite. This early-detection technology can recognize suspicious cells before the reach the mouth’s surface.

NTI for Bruxism & Migraines

NTI is an acronym that stands for Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition. That sounds very scientific, doesn't it? Nociceptive is a word that has to do with the perception of pain. Trigeminal, which may sound familiar if you've take anatomy and physiology courses, is the name of the nerve responsible for the major muscles we use when chewing). Inhibitor, you know, refers to something that holds back a force or action. So, NTI is an oral appliance that stops nerve signals to the cheek muscles. In short, the NTI prevents clenching and grinding the teeth, a condition we call bruxism. If you clench and grind your teeth at night, you could end up with premature tooth wear and breakage, or even TMJ disorder (misalignment of the jaw joints), which causes migraines and other painful symptoms.
