The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry conducted a survey, posing the question: "What would you most like to improve about your smile?" The popular answer was "Whiter & Brighter Teeth." The AACD also found that nearly all adults who responded (99.7%) believe that a smile is an important social asset and a third (74%) believe that an unattractive smile can harm a person's career. A study of job applicants, by Kelton Research, backs up this finding. After teeth whitening, study participants were more frequently offered a job and a higher salary than those applicants who did not undergo teeth whitening before interviewing.
What Teeth Whitening System Is Best?
Over-the-counter teeth whitening is a good place to start. Many people don't see the results they want with OTC whitening strips, toothpastes, or mouth washes. We do not advise undergoing professional teeth whitening administered by anyone other than a licensed dentist. Avoid mall kiosks! If you would like a more potent whitening system, talk with Dr. Kobak about professional home whitening trays.
We'll fabricate custom bleaching trays that fit comfortably in your mouth, hold bleaching gel on your teeth, and keep saliva from diluting the gel. Usually, professional home teeth whitening takes about 7-10 days to produce optimal results. You'll wear your trays for a few hours each day or evening, or you can wear them overnight, if you prefer.
Dentist-prescribed home kits are a good value, and they produce results of up to eight or ten shades difference in some situations. For those who demand a faster way to lighten we also offer in office "Zoom" bleaching which usually gives similar overall lightening, but this technique is more costly and can also have the side effect of more pronounced sensitivity.
