Digital Radiography

In 2006 we implemented the use of digital x-rays. This amazing technology allows us, utilizing high tech sensors, to view the x-ray images almost instantaneously, enlarged to the size of the 17 inch computer monitors located directly in the treatment rooms. We no longer need to wait 10-15 minutes to develop the films using chemicals. The amount of radiation needed to expose these new digital images is approximately one-third of the level needed prior to the digital format, so any concerns about radiation exposure become minimized. Other advantages of going digital are our ease of communicating with our dental colleagues by emailing the images when necessary instead of regular mail and we can also send the images to insurance companies via the internet to expedite our patients insurance claims.
